19 months ago, the brewers conceptualized a barleywine that would complement what has become one of our most sought-after beers, Arabesque. While Arabesque pushes barleywine to its limits utilizing a rather complex grain bill and leaning towards the high end of the SRM scale for color, the brewers chose a more simplistic approach with Kentucky Hugs. This more traditional barleywine consists of Maris Otter base malt, with only three different caramel malts on top of it. 19 months aged in younger Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels, this barleywine is more geared towards caramel and nuanced barrel character.
