Blue Raspberry Hard Lemonade Recipe Kit | Made with Real Lemon

Sweet, tart, and bursting with bold blue raspberry flavor, this hard lemonade delivers the familiar fruit-forward character found in your favorite commercial hard lemonades. Built on real crystallized lemon and a clean fermented base, it’s easy to customize with the included back-sweetener to create your perfect balance of sweetness and citrus.

Built Around Fresh Lemon Character

Rather than relying on fermented lemon juice alone, this recipe builds its lemonade character in layers. A light dry malt extract base provides a clean foundation, crystallized lemon contributes fresh citrus flavor, and blue raspberry flavoring adds bold berry character that complements the lemonade. Optional back-sweetening allows you to finish the beverage as dry or as sweet as you prefer.

Behind the Brew

This recipe started as an unexpected side quest while developing our Hard Iced Tea Recipe Kits. As we explored the growing ready-to-drink (RTD) beverage market, we found ourselves sampling far more than just hard teas. Hard lemonade kept showing up, and with many of the biggest brands built on a fermented malt base rather than spirits, we couldn’t help but wonder: could we make a version that tasted great and was just as approachable for homebrewers?

That’s when one of our Hard Iced Tea test batches took a completely different turn. Instead of blending in tea, we started dosing the finished beverage with our crystallized lemon to see if we could build a true hard lemonade using real lemon ingredients. The first sip told us we were onto something. Bright, fresh citrus gave us the foundation we were looking for, but we also realized there was more to great hard lemonade than simply adding lemon.

Batch after batch, we kept refining the recipe. We found that crystallized lemon delivered the authentic citrus flavor we wanted, while a touch of lemonade flavoring rounded everything out and recreated the familiar lemonade character people expect. It wasn’t about making the lemon strongerit was about making the finished beverage unmistakably taste like lemonade.

One of the biggest surprises came near the end of development. Sweetness isn’t just there to make hard lemonade sweeterit’s part of what makes lemonade taste like lemonade. Without enough sweetness, the finished beverage drinks more like beer with lemon added. Since most homebrewers aren’t able to stabilize or pasteurize before back-sweetening, we included a non-fermentable sucralose sweetener so every brewer can dial in that balance without worrying about restarting fermentation.

What began as a side quest quickly became its own project and ultimately the foundation for our Hard Lemonade Recipe Kit lineup. Every variation starts with the same clean fermented base and lemonade profile developed during those original test batches, proving that sometimes the best ideas come from seeing where a little curiosity leads.
